41st Toy Run – Reminder and Update

 

Hi Everyone!

A reminder regarding tomorrow’s event!

The start location is The Derwent Entertainment Centre Car Park located at 601 Brooker Highway, Glenorchy.

Gates Open at 1:00pm and will be closing at 2:00pm to prepare the start of the ride, ideally get there early to avoid any delays in parking your bike, please follow all marked areas and the directions of the gate staff who will be ready to electronically scan your tickets on entry.

Bring your tickets, each rider and pillion will be scanned in at entry. Please have your ticket and the ticket of your pillion rider ready for our gate staff to scan either from your smart phone or from a clearly printed ticket. No ticket, no entry.

Once parked, please follow directions and make your way to the merchandise collection area to collect your t-shirt and/or badge which have been individually bagged and named per your ticket.

If you are feeling unwell, have flu like symptoms such as a temperate, runny nose, sore throat, sneeze or cough then PLEASE do not come, we wish to ensure everybody’s health and safety which includes other riders, MRA South committee members and their volunteers as well as The Salvation Army and their volunteers. If you are unwell and miss attending this year we will be contacting all people who haven’t collected their t-shirts and/or badge int he days after the event to arrange a drop off point or to arrange postage at the persons cost.

 

Once the Toy Run group leaves, the group will make their way via the Brooker Highway on the traditional route until Davey St, where instead of continuing along to Salamanca the bikes with the identifying sticker placed on at scanning time will be diverted to Evans Street at Macquarie Point where the end of the Toy Run will be, there will be Salvation Army collection points inside for riders and pillions and outside for members of the public, due to Covid 19 compliance only those that have been scanned in at the beginning of the ride are permitted within either end’s assembly area.

Observers, we understand there are many that like to view the ride from the side of the highway, this years ride will be taking largely the same route until the railway round-about (Near the ABC Studios in Hobart) This is due to the COVID testing clinic occupying and needing access around PW1 the ride is not ending in Salamanca this year.

The weather forecast isn’t looking the greatest for tomorrow so please keep an eye on forecasts, if you are unable to make it we will be in touch with all ticket holders who have not collected their merchandise after the toy run has concluded to discuss collection options.

 

As with previous years all bikes are to be road worthy and registered, Tasmania Police will be there on the day and will be performing registration spot checks and whilst the Toy Run is a community driven event they will not hesitate to give somebody a ticket.

41st MRA Toy Run – Don’t Forget To Bring Your Tickets!

Hi Everyone,

With only 6 days left before the event we wanted to Thank Everyone for their support for this years Toy Run and remind all people that have purchased tickets to bring your ticket on the day, If you do not have your ticket available for scan from paper or from a mobile device you will not be permitted to enter the start point of the Toy Run, nor will you be able to pick up your t-shirt and badge without your ticket.
Electronically Checking in Toy Run attendees minimises contact and forms an essential part of our Covid Safety requirements to track attendance in the event of an outbreak. With this in mind we remind people that all tickets are not transferrable, unless you purchased yours from our Eventbrite page you will not be permitted entry, We would encorage anyone that has acquired tickets outside of the Eventbrite page to seek a reimbursement from the person who sold it to you, If our information is incorrect with regards to attendees then it could threaten any future event run by MRA South including Tas Rally not to mention hinder health department tracing of those potentilly exposed and risking peoples health safety and potenially lives, something we would never want associated with a tradition like the Toy Run.
We emplore with everyone to adhere to the agreement made at the time of the original ticket purchase.
There will be no door sales on the day, we have been limited by our permits for the number of tickets that have been sold, there will also be no merchandise for sale, only the items that were pre-ordered as part of the ticket purchase (t-shirt and badge) which will be availble for collection on presentation of your ticket once admitted to the main assembly area on the day.
Ticket holders will be sent an email update on Wednesday via Eventbrite with information regarding the arrangements on the day of the Toy Run, please keep an eye on your INBOX’s so you don’t miss any important information!
Those that have purchased tickets but cannot make it due to unforseen issues, we will be contacting all ticket purchasers for any unclaimed items at the end of the Toy Run to try best and unite those people with their badge and tshirt.
For those that cannot make it to the Toy Run, there are other ways you can donate to the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal, please visit our website for more information on what sort of gifts and non perisable food items you can donate and the locations where those donations can be dropped off:
Thirdly, You must hold a current valid licence and your bike must be road worthy and registered to participate in the Toy Run, the main part of the toy run will be taking part on public infrastructure and thus must comply with registration and road worthyness requirements.

Lastly, and most importantly, If you are feeling unwell, have flu like symptoms, running a temperature, headache, sore throat then PLEASE DO NOT COME, we will contact any people after the conclusion of the Toy Run to best unite them with their t-shrits and badges.

The global pandemic has been reason for such stringent limitations on our event, please do not endanger the health and safety of the Salvation Army volunteers, MRA South committee and volunteers and the participants of what has become a very challenging event to organise in a most challenging year and your generosity is needed now more than ever.
Thank you to everyone that has send kind words and understanding and those that have supported this Toy Run – without which there would be no Toy Run event at all this year.
The Salvos need all the support they can get so that they may help as many people in need in one of the most challenging of Holiday seasons in close to one hundred years!

If you are looking to donate physical items such as toys and non perishable food, the Salvation Army has provided some information on what sorts of items can be donate, whilst toys for younger children are traditionally the most donated item they also provide donations and assistance to teenagers and adults so items such as gift cards can be used by people and families of all ages. MRA TOY RUN 2020 Mid-November UPDATE

 

IMPORTANT MRA TOY RUN UPDATE – November 10th 2020.

 

Firstly, MRA South would like to thank everyone that has jumped in early and purchased a ticket, we’ve been absolutely stunned and delighted at the support that everyone has shown to allow this years event to proceed under the most challenging of conditions, we have been humbled by your response and it has shown us that all of our hard work to date has been worthwhile, for those that have already purchased your tickets, you made this possible and we thank you very much!

We are very proud to announce that as of 7pm tonight we’ve met our forecasted revenue goal to cover the costs of the Toy Run and that surplus from the remaining ticket sales will be donated to the Salvation Army once the Toy Run event has concluded.

As we will need to be ordering the t-shirts prior to the event and we will need a few days to package them up for collection on the day, everyone will need to get their tickets for the 2020 MRA Toy Run by this coming Sunday the 15th of November. The cut off time will be 6:00pm in the evening after which there will be no more orders being taken for the t-shirts and ticket sales will cease, as ticket numbers remaining are limited we would recommend if you haven’t purchased your ticket via our Eventbrite event then please do as quickly as you can to avoid missing out, once the tickets are sold out you’ll have missed your opportunity to take part in this years 41st MRA Toy Run.

Remember, The last chance to secure your ticket and t-shirt closes by 6pm this coming Sunday the 15th of November, if all tickets sell prior to Sunday then the ticket sales will finish as soon as the last ticket is sold, don’t leave it too late – Get in as quickly as you can to avoid missing out on this special 41st MRA Tasmanian Toy Run event.

MRA Toy Run 2020

You’ve been asking, we’ve been working hard to organise it under the most challenging conditions.

Tickets are currently on sale via Eventbrite (See link at the bottom of the post or click the banner above) Make sure you get in as quickly as you can to secure a ticket, numbers are limited – tickets will not be available to purchase until 10:00am tomorrow at which time you will be able to access the ticketing option on the event, tickets will cost $35 per person which will include a t-shirt in a size of your choice and a toy run badge, these will be available on the day as a pre-packed item to avoid gathering in close proximity for extended periods of time, as such there will be no sales of merchandise on the day this year, all items will be pre-paid with your ticket.

Please Note, there is a limit of 4 tickets per sale, if you require more than 4 then you will need to perform a second request after the first, Tickets will not be refundable and are not Transferrable, they MUST be completed with the name and contact details for the person they will be for, all tickets will be electronically checked in on the day on entry. No ticket, No Entry. Every attendee will be required to have a ticket, both riders and pillions included.

Some Terms & Conditions as well as ordering info below – please read carefully as we wish to avoid any delays on getting back to you with questions:

Please be sure to complete ALL information requested at time of Ticket sales for Health Regulation mandated COVID Tracking and Tracing Purposes, those that leave information blank or inaccurate will not be permitted to attend, this is non negotiable and is in the interests of public health and safety as part of our COVID-19 Safety Plan, each vehicle will be checked in with the ticket, please either have your phone with the ticket or a printed copy of your ticket available during entry to be scanned by one of our volunteers.

Ticket holders will be advised of the start and end locations through the eventbrite system after their tickets have been successfully purchased, please be sure to check your junk mail boxes for any announcements from MRA South regarding the Toy Run over the coming weeks to ensure you do not miss out on any important updates and announcements, exact details are still being finalised – please bear with us.

As with all Toy Runs past, please follow and comply the directions of all MRA Committee members, volunteers, law enforcement and emergency workers who are directing traffic, there will be a zero tolerance policy of poor or dangerous behaviour, it is in all of our interests that all participants of the Toy Run are kept safe and that the event is incident free.

We will be advising prior to the event and on the day how and where you can drop off your donations to the Salvation Army prior to, during or after the event.

A maximum of 4 tickets can be purchased at any one time, the tickets are per person, If you have a rider and a pillion on one motorcycle two tickets are required, If you wish to purchase more than 4 tickets you will need to create a second order. Please note these tickets are not refundable or transferrable, please ensure all contact information is accurate and correct as it is required for our track and trace requirements.

You agree that Your ticket is not transferable or refundable, any tickets found to be in possession of anyone but the intended participant will be turned away without refund, we will not support on-sold tickets, tickets must be redeemed by the people presented on the ticket.

You agree to bring your ticket(s) to the Toy Run event, those people who do not bring their ticket WILL NOT be allowed to enter or participate.

You agree to allow the MRA volunteers once you have presented your ticket to place a removable identifying sticker on your headlight identifying your bike to traffic control personnel throughout the Toy Run, bikes without the correct sticker or bikes that haven’t been checked in WILL NOT be allowed to entry to the end point of the event.

You also agree that if you are feeling unwell, have a cough, runny nose, sneeze or are running a temperature or present other flu or cold like symptoms that you WILL NOT attend the Toy Run, The well being of all attendees and the community at large is our primary concern.
